Youth BEST Is Back In Action!

Bike Utah’s Youth BEST program is rolling out new and modified classes for Fall of 2020

Beginning in March 2020, the Youth BEST program shut down regular youth education programming at schools. Since then we’ve researched and discussed how to adapt our program to comply with leading public health guidelines for outdoor recreation in regards to Covid-19.

Following recommendations and guidelines set by the CDC, Utah Government, and Salt Lake City Health Department, we have implemented the following program changes:

  • Holding classes in public outdoor spaces within Salt Lake County where we are based.

  • Class size limit of 10 youths

  • Maintaining at least 6ft of distance among participants and BEST staff, when possible; designated spots/spacing will be marked on the ground as needed

  • Provision of hand sanitizers and mandated use for participants and staff

  • Requiring mask be worn at all times; mask will be provided for participants who do not have one

  • A temperature check of participants upon arrival

  • Provision of individual water bottles

  • Cleaning and sanitizing bikes, helmets, and other program materials in between classes

How to sign up?

The Youth BEST program will be offering free, two day courses to 4th - 7th grade students from schools and community groups throughout Salt Lake County, Utah. The program will be taught at two locations Oquirrh Park & Taylorsville Rec Center in Salt Lake County. We will have multiple two day sessions throughout the week with varying times to accommodate students as much as possible.
