Input Needed: Options to Improve Little Cottonwood Canyon Traffic

The Utah DOT and UTA are working to find solutions to decrease traffic in Little Cottonwood Canyon. They are currently looking at options involving an advanced bus system or gondolas.

An article by the Salt Lake Tribune describes each of the three options. The first option would include a gondola system with stations at the mouth of the canyon, Alta, and Snowbird. “The other two options include enhanced Utah Transit Authority bus service, arriving as frequently as every five minutes. One bus option would include widening the canyon road to allow bus-only lanes on shoulders during ski season and use by bicyclists and hikers in the summer.”

The Utah DOT is accepting comments on the proposals from now until July 10. There will also be several public online meetings as well as an in-person meeting for people without internet.
