How Do Utah Communities Stack Up for Bicycling?
PeopleForBikes just announced their annual PlacesForBikes ratings and seven Utah communities submitted data for rating.
The PlacesForBikes City Ratings are designed to show cities where they stand — and provide insight into what type of investments should be made to build complete, connected bike networks.
This year, the PlacesForBikes team scored 510 U.S. cities based on five key areas: Ridership (how many people ride bikes?), Safety (how safe is it to ride bikes?), Network (how easy is it for people to get where they need to go?), Acceleration (how fast is the bike network expanding?), and Reach (how well does the network serve all neighborhoods in the community?).
Scores are out of a maximum of 5 and the highest scoring community in the ranking is Boulder, Colorado at 3.7. Here are the scores for the Utah and links to their full scorecards:
If your community is not in the ranking, it’s probably because no one submitted the necessary data to be evaluated. You can find out more here about how to get your community included. If you want to make your community a better place to ride, this is a great opportunity to find out what needs to be done to improve.
