Youth Beginner racers must be able to pilot their bikes by themselves and must be must be able to complete transfers and stages on their own. Parents may ride behind their child if needed, but may not interfere with their racer or with any other racer. Parents must sign a waiver.

Beginner - For those who are new to mountain biking and mountain bike racing. Experienced riders who are new to racing may be candidates for the Beginner category, but if the friends you ride with every week race Sport or Expert, you should consider at least racing Sport.

Sport - For those advanced-novice to experienced-intermediate riders who are racing to challenge themselves, but are not ready for the Expert category quite yet.

Expert Category - For those who are very experienced mountain biking and mountain bike racing and desire to push themselves on race night. You belong in the Expert category if you slay the sport class, you race to race, you really want to beat your friends, but the Pro riders are still much faster than you are.

Pro Category - For those who are very experienced mountain biking and mountain bike racing and desire to push themselves on race night. Pro category racers crush the Expert category and/or have a pro license in MTB.

Masters Category - For those experienced riders with technical confidence and the need for more speed. Women Masters category is open to ages 50+. Men Masters category is open to ages 55+.

Off-Road Handcycle Category - For those who are experienced riding or racing hand cycles at our Mini Enduro venues.

COURSE MAPS + DESCRIPTION

ME Course - IMPORTANT STAGING INFORMATION FOR SNOWBIRD:

Youth and Beginners will be racing BOTH stages on Baby Thunder. Your Stage 1 start and your Stage 2 start will be at the same place. Plan on 20-30 minutes to climb up to Stage 1 start, and then again to the same place for Stage 2.

Sport, Masters, Expert, and Pro racers will race Stage 1 on Big Mountain with a transfer over to Baby Thunder for Stage 2. This will be a long climb up to Stage 1 for our Sport and above classes, but you will be compensated with an EASY and SHORT transfer to Stage 2! Make sure you give yourself enough time for the climb to Stage 1. For a slow and relaxed pace on the climb, plan on around 45-65 minutes to ride up to Stage 1. Plan on a 10-minute (or less) ride over to Stage 2.

The start time you receive is the time you must be at the STAGE 1 START READY TO RACE! Both stages will use Midway as part of the stage transfer. Watch out for other racers and public users on the trail. Be polite.

There will be 2 minute intervals between categories at STAGE 1.

If Sport+ riders arrive at STAGE 2 while Youth/Beginner riders are still completing their STAGE 2, racers may request a 1 or 2 minute interval and/or we may move Youth/Beginner riders in line in front of you. STAGE 2 intervals will be 30 seconds otherwise.

GENERAL Race Rules

Please be nice to anyone you encounter on the trails. The trail systems we race on are open to the public at all times.  We DO NOT close trails for our races.  Keep your eyes up and watch out for hikers, other cyclists, and animals (domesticated or otherwise).  Good trail etiquette applies at all times - especially during races!  Be nice, and say hi to anyone you encounter.

Please be kind to your fellow racers, all volunteers, and race staff. We know you want to go fast, and sometimes you have to pass or interact with other racers, but that is NEVER an excuse to be rude. Please be nice to all volunteers and race staff! THANK A TRAIL MARSHAL as you go by them! The Race Director, at their sole discretion, can/will disqualify anyone who exhibits unsportsmanlike behavior.

KNOW YOUR COURSE, and follow the flags and signs. We’ll have limited course markings, but our general rule of thumb is that the bright orange Mid Week flags will always be ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE TRAIL!

Helmets are mandatory. Period.
