Youth Bicycle Education Program
Do you remember your first ride on a bicycle? If not your first ride, how about when you saw a child just starting to ride? That feeling of freedom. The wind in your hair. You can give that same feeling to a kid in Utah.
Bike Utah has launched the Youth Bicycle Education and Safety Training Program to teach 3,000+ kids in Utah how to safely and confidently navigate by bicycle. Imagine that, 3,000 of Utah’s youth who want to ride and have the skills to do so! The Youth Bicycle Education and Safety Training is a 5-hour, on-bike program that is administered at schools, targeting students in the 4th to 7th grade range. Bike Utah provides a trained instructor, bicycles, helmets, and all other equipment for the duration of the program.
If you are interested in supporting Bike Utah’s Youth Bicycle Education and Safety Training Program, or bringing us to a school near you, please contact Jace Burbidge. Youth Education Coordinator, at 801-867-5485 or Jace@BikeUtah.org.

The program has the capacity to move around the state so it can be administered at schools in all corners of Utah, depending on the season. This is a no-cost program so every school and student can participate regardless of financial ability.
Eventually, we want to expand this program so every child in Utah gets the opportunity to experience the freedom and fun of riding a bicycle as part of their formal education. At Bike Utah, we know that bicycles have the ability to improve personal health, air quality, and the livability of communities.
Getting physical activity each day also helps to improve academic performance. This program will create safer bicycle users and safer drivers of the future.
